A professional chimney sweep is far more than a cleaning — it's a comprehensive safety assessment. Our CSIA-certified sweeps remove creosote (the #1 cause of chimney fires), clear blockages from animals and debris, and inspect every component of your system from firebox to chimney cap.
We perform Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 NFPA inspections depending on your needs. Every visit includes a written safety report and honest recommendations — never pressure to buy services you don't need.
Our chimney masons provide expert chimney repair, fireplace installation, tuckpointing, crown rebuilding, firebox restoration, and structural masonry services throughout Central Maryland. Whether you're adding a new fireplace, repairing deteriorating brickwork, or restoring a historic chimney, we deliver code-compliant craftsmanship built to last.
Maryland's freeze-thaw cycles are especially hard on masonry. Water enters small cracks, freezes, expands, and accelerates deterioration. From chimney crown repair and brick replacement to complete chimney reconstruction and fireplace restoration, our experienced masons restore both safety and appearance while matching your home's original materials whenever possible.
A properly functioning liner is essential for every chimney system. It contains combustion byproducts, protects the masonry from heat and corrosion, and improves draft efficiency. If your liner is cracked, deteriorated, or missing entirely, your home is at risk — regardless of how new your fireplace is.
We install stainless steel flexible liners for wood-burning, gas, and oil appliances. Our liners are sized correctly for each application and installed with UL-listed components from top to bottom.
Some problems can't be seen from the top — or the bottom. Our high-definition camera system travels the full length of your flue, capturing detailed footage of every inch of your liner, smoke chamber, and firebox interior.
Video inspection is especially important when buying or selling a home, after a chimney fire, or when investigating draft and smoke problems. You receive a digital copy of the footage so you can see exactly what we see — no guesswork, no surprises.
A missing or damaged chimney cap is one of the most overlooked — and most costly — chimney problems. Without a cap, rain, snow, animals, and debris enter your flue freely. The moisture alone can deteriorate a liner in a few seasons. A properly fitted cap is one of the best investments you can make in your chimney system.
The chimney crown — the concrete slab that seals the top of your chimney structure — is equally critical. Cracks in the crown allow water to migrate down into the masonry. We pour custom-formed, flexible crowns that expand and contract with temperature changes without cracking.
Gas fireplaces, inserts, and venting systems require regular maintenance to operate safely and efficiently. Our Master Gas Licensed technicians provide gas fireplace service, venting inspections, ignition repairs, and carbon monoxide testing to ensure your system performs as intended.
Carbon monoxide is odorless, colorless, and potentially deadly. Improper venting, damaged components, and draft issues can allow dangerous gases to enter your home. We diagnose and correct venting problems, repair gas fireplace components, and verify compliance with Maryland safety codes for direct vent, B-vent, and sealed combustion systems.

Call Us NowThe NFPA recommends a chimney inspection every year, regardless of how often you use your fireplace. If you burn wood regularly, an annual sweep is also recommended. If you use your fireplace only occasionally, an inspection every year and a sweep every 1–2 years is typical. Gas appliances still require annual inspections — CO₂ issues don't discriminate based on fuel type.
Yes. Even an unused fireplace can have deteriorating mortar, animal nests blocking the flue, or a cracked liner that could allow moisture or CO to enter your living space. An unused fireplace is not a safe fireplace — it's just an uninspected one. Annual inspections are recommended by the NFPA for all fireplace and heating appliance installations.
A standard chimney sweep and Level 1 inspection takes 45 minutes to 1.5 hours for most homes. If a video inspection (Level 2) is included or if there are multiple fireplaces, plan for 1.5–2.5 hours. We'll give you an estimated time window when you book, and we'll keep you updated if anything changes on the day of service.
Creosote is a tar-like byproduct of burning wood that accumulates on the inside of your flue liner. It's highly flammable. At Stage 3 (glazed creosote), it can ignite and burn at temperatures exceeding 2,000°F — hot enough to crack your liner, damage the masonry, and potentially ignite your home structure. Annual sweeping removes creosote before it reaches dangerous levels.
All chimneys used with heating appliances require a properly functioning liner. Older homes (pre-1940s especially) often have clay tile liners that crack over decades of use. Signs you may need a new liner include smoke spilling back into your home, visible cracks or missing sections on video inspection, a recent chimney fire, or switching to a new appliance that requires a different flue size. A video inspection will give you a definitive answer.
